AFTERCARE

Your tattoo is more than just ink—it's a piece of art and a part of your story. Proper aftercare ensures your tattoo stays vibrant and holds up beautifully over time. Here’s how to care for your skin to keep your tattoo looking its best:

Immediate aftercare:

  • Leave the Bandage On: Your artists will cover your tattoo with some kind of bandage to protect it from bacteria. Keep this on for the duration recommended by your artist. Depending on the specific kind of bandage this time frame may differ. If you are unsure of this duration ask your artist for clarification.

 â€‹â€‹â€‹

  • Wash Your Hands: Before touching your tattoo, ALWAYS wash your hands thoroughly with warm water and antibacterial soap to prevent introducing bacteria to the area.

Cleaning your tattoo:

  • Gently wash your tattoo using unscented antibacterial soap. We recommend Dial Gold, which can be found at any local drug store or big-name department store.

  • Use Lukewarm water and your fingertips (avoid scrubbing or using a washcloth; this can interfere with the healing process).

 â€‹

  • Pat the area dry with a clean, soft towel or allow it to air dry.

Moisturizing and healing

  • Once your tattoo is clean and dry, it is essential to keep it moisturized to promote the best healing process. We recommend ONLY using unscented white lotions. We recommend Lubriderm, which can be found at any local drugstore or big-name department store. Avoid using anything with fragrances, dyes, added chemicals, or petroleum jelly (Aquaphor, A&D, Vaseline).

  • "Why do you not recommend Aquaphor?"

    • We understand that this has been a recommendation by many artists in the industry for many years. But we have found it can be too thick to absorb fully into the skin. When left on the surface, it may trap bacteria and oversaturate the tattoo, slowing healing. Unscented white lotion is gentle, lightweight, and absorbs fully to keep your tattoo properly moisturized.

Things to Avoid During Healing:

  • Don't Pick or Scratch: Flaking and itching are normal, but resist the urge to pick or scratch. For the best result, let the skin heal naturally.

   â€‹

  • Avoid Submersion in Water: Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, and long baths. Showering is fine, but avoid prolonged exposure to the water.

  • Stay out of Direct Sunlight. UV rays can greatly impact the tattoo's healing process and long-term vibrancy. If you are going out in the sun cover it with loose clothing. After it has fully healed use sunscreen to protect the art.

Long-term care

To keep your tattoo bold and beautiful for years to come:

  • Moisturize Regularly: Healthy, Hydrated skin is key to maintaining your tattoo's appearance.

  • Protect with Sunscreen: Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ on your tattoo whenever it is exposed to sunlight.

   â€‹

  • Stay Hydrated and Maintain Good Skin Care: Keeping your overall skin healthy will benefit your tattoos.

Your tattoo is an investment-- following these steps ensures it heals properly and stays a vibrant party of your body for years to come.
